Match Captain Sue Saunders reported that the second match of the season was played at home against Lincolnshire at Thetford in extremely wet conditions. The fairways were in a very poor condition after the recent prolonged hot spell, and it was agreed that players could prefer lies. Both teams struggled with the rain and the fairways but there were some excellent performances and some very close matches. This match always has a larger squad of 12 players which gives more people a chance of being selected and a warm welcome was given to two new team players – Phon Green from Bawburgh and Anne Ellis from Hunstanton. Big thanks to Thetford Golf Club who provided excellent hospitality and a very tasty evening meal. More importantly huge thanks go from the Captain to the team members who are always such good sports and great fun. Fantastic result Norfolk won 4 matches to 2

Forty players took part from seven different clubs in the competition at Caldecott Hall Golf Club. After all the lovely dry, hot weather we have had, we awoke to a cold, wet and windy day. Mention must be made of the four players from Denver who made a trip of it, staying at Caldecott the night before! The day dawned and everyone was very stoic and without complaining just got on with it. On finishing everyone agreed that they had had a good time with great company. Congratulations go to the winners who took on and tamed the challenge. 1st Sue Ryan and Kay Reynolds from Eaton Golf Club with 37 points, the only pair to break par, well done ladies. 2nd Anne Osborn and Penny Lamb from Bawburgh Golf Club with 32 points. 3rd Debbie Leggett and Julie Ellis from Richmond Par k with 30 points (ocb). Nearest the pin on the 8th for Handicaps 25.9 and under was won by Penny Lamb from Bawburgh Golf Club and nearest the pin on the 13th for Handicaps 26 and over, was won by Pam Skoyles from Caldecott Hall. Many thanks to Caldecott Hall who were very supportive, the pro shop who met all our needs and provided the very capable Mick as starter and the Barn who provided us with a very welcome meal. Well done everyone. Jill Bullimore Competition Secretary

Match Captain Sue Saunders reported...... Our first match of the season was played against Cambs & Hunts at the Cambridge Country Club, Bourn. This was a new venue for all of us, with the clubhouse having top of the range facilities in health and wellness and marbled corridors and an outdoor cinema. I was told that the golf course itself is in the process of an upgrade which will take a few years and, with the dry conditions and some blind tee shots, it was a really good test of our ability. We had a couple of new faces in the team with Sarah Watts, Barnham Broom, and Jane Reavell, King's Lynn, making their debut. Unfortunately, our team came out losers 2 1/2 - 1 1/2 but it was a most enjoyable day out with plenty of laughs.

Competitions Secretary Jill Bullimore reported that Friday May 16th saw the first competition for High Handicap Ladies from the Society. It was great to see 9 teams from ten clubs taking part in a team of four Waltz. This format was really liked by the ladies that took part as there was less pressure on having to score. Dereham was a great venue and were good hosts. Although the weather had turned colder, the teams took on the challenge. The winners were Christine Joy, Irene Lindsay, Gerry Shaw and Gail Drage from Wensum Valley with 83 points. In second place, on count back, were Kari Joyce, Sue Ryan, Kerry Williams and Lynne Jellicoe from Eaton with 81 points, just nudging out the team of Ros Foster, Gerri Williams, Val Miller and Stephanie Fisher from Bawburgh. Feedback from the ladies was that they would like to take part in this type of competition again next year.

The Spring Four Ball Betterball Stableford was held at Gorleston Golf Club on 14th April 2025. Competitions Secretary Jill Bullimore reported that 92 members from 14 clubs took part. The weather was fine and dry. However, the wind did get stronger as the day progressed making this a factor to wrestle with. Gorleston Golf Club were superb hosts; everyone made every effort to make our day enjoyable. There were particularly satisfied faces after a lovely fish and chip meal. Congratulations to the winners, Sue Olds and Sue Fage from Wensum Valley, with a creditable 46 points.

Angie Allsopp reported that 88 ladies from 14 clubs played in this event. It was a very good day, the weather was extremely kind and we were looked after very well by all the staff at Bawburgh. Everyone seemed to enjoy the day and quite a few stayed for the presentation. Unfortunately, we did not have a starter so everyone saw themselves off, which was not a problem.

Match Captain Sue Saunders reported that this match against Cambs & Hunts Seniors was rearranged from earlier in the year when rain stopped play. The games were played in good spirit and the individual matches were really enjoyed against good opposition. There is no question that the Norfolk team feel at home at the tree-lined King's Lynn course which was in excellent condition and a real pleasure to play on for our final match of the season. Hospitality provided was first-class and a great two-course meal was enjoyed by all. NVLGS colours were presented to Bev Fowler and rather belatedly to Sally Bettinson, Kath Malvern and Anne Sibley.

AmAm held at Kings Lynn Golf Club on Thursday 4th September 2025

November 24, 2025

104 ladies from 16 clubs played the lovely Kings Lynn course on a challenging day with

rain showers and whirling wind conditions which made it a good test of golf. The day

clashed with the Ladies County Foursomes but it was still oversubscribed and late

entries were turned away as we could only accommodate 26 teams with a two tee start.

The club made us very welcome and the membership provided help with the raIle and

starters. Huge thanks go to the Kings Lynn Lady Captain, Elaine Calvert who was

incredibly supportive and their Secretary Iain who dealt with all the cards and put them

through their system to sort out handicaps and winners.

There were loads of compliments about the course and everyone appeared to enjoy the

day. Congratulations go to Sue Clarke, Rosie Russell, Jane Reavell and Soon Letchford

who came in first and won the Judith MacKinnon Salver.

The Society is very grateful to everyone who generously bought rafle tickets which

raised £420 for the Norfolk & Norwich Jenny Lind Appeal.
